Russia is No Europe
Believe you me but I’m not one of those to complain about anything even if I’m living in Russia(people complain here a lot) but most importantly, I’m grateful to God for everything he has done for me.
It was/is for me a privilege to go on vacations and having enjoyed the winter break with my family in Finland, I cannot help but notice the contrast between the two countries.Finland and Russia that is.
Oh well, it’s not like my own country is any better, but if Russia claims to be a giant in Europe, then it should be in action and not just size. Size is NOTHING!
Finland came across as a ‘strange’ country to me. Strange in a very powerful and positive way and each time I think ofFinland, I say to myself, how did they do it?
And it wasn’t just the readily and available social infrastructures or the weather, but rather the atmosphere, environment and above all THE PEOPLE!
During my holidays there, I noticed that Finnish people are very nice, welcoming and have more than ONE CHILD. I saw parents with three to four kids!!! I live in Moscow and I’d be lucky to see a mother with two kids. No no…I’m not blaming the Russians. Just saying it as it is.
Another “strange” thing was that transportation is FREE for YOU and your kid in the stroller! Can anyone tell me where else this is done? THIS IS FANTASTIC!!!
Exploring Helsinki and other cities in Finland was fun and even more fun when you can move around conveniently and without fear or worry that at any time would a security officer stop you just to ask for your passport as frequently done here in Moscow. It was a relief.
It was also a relief to see people smile and their faces lit up. EVERYONE including AFRICANS. Most of the Africans I see here inRussia, have fear written all over their faces. Very few of them work, even fewer are allowed to work. Whereas, inHelsinki, I “met” a lot of Africans (majority were of East African origin) working and earning their pay. Some were public bus drivers – a lot better than distributing flyers in Moscow. Some worked in banks, grocery stores etc. It was refreshing to see.
Moving around the city on public transport in Moscow is a Day-NIGHTMARE! Especially if you have kids and even worse if they are not even toddlers yet. Blimey, how are you supposed to move around? Oh did I mention the horrible metro system in Moscow? Gosh! It’s a disaster! There are no elevators and the sound the train makes can give you a splitting headache. No wonder no one smiles inMoscow. The Metro system is to blame. It generally spoils your mood by mere thinking just how are you supposed to move around conveniently?
Ah, I forgot to add that the Helsinki Metro has got TOILETS.Yes! This is something you can only dream about in Moscow.

And if there were, it would be VERY DIRTY!!! Case in point the toilet in the Russian International train (No 188) I took from Helsinki to Moscow. Isn’t that disgusting???

Of what use is the ‘esthetics” of the Moscow metro when the noise it generates is practically deafening. The trains are old; the entrances to the metro are smelly and dirty.

I’d also like to mention the fact that,Helsinki is a LOT safer than Moscow. I mean, we left our bags; camera, purses, stroller in very populated areas and NOT a single thing went missing. No one even notice. Try that in Moscow and….(can you fill in the gaps?)
Actually this could be funny to some but if you happen to be staying in a hotel (say, an all inclusive) and there are lots of Russians then you are likely remain without food, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner because they will finish everything before your arrival. So take my advice, be there before anyone else if you desire to eat because if you come late, its welcome empty plates and hunger. LOL!
Finland definitely impressed me and Helsinki was amazing. I liked the fact that apartments building are nicely built (nothing fanciful) and was amazed when I couldn’t see any burglary proofs even for apartments on the ground floor. I instead noticed clean glass balconies. SPECTACULAR!
There are no barriers or barricades in the metro, trams, trains or buses. You simply get in and pay your fare and enjoy your ride. Easy and refreshing to see something like that. It does seem that Finnish people have conscience or how else do you explain it?
And getting in and out of the Helsinki metro was so convenient that I thought I’d make a movie about it. It felt that good.

Say what you may but I do not understand how the Moscow Government expect people on wheel chair or parents with kids on prams (or stroller) to get on and off or move around on the public transport?
And please don’t give me that crap about the size of Moscow and or that the metro system is much more extensive and older! Duh! Who cares? Ever heard of modernization?
Well, maybe we send the Moscow City Mayor to Helsinki to see how it is done?
And oh the railway stations in Helsinki are like five star hotels if compared to the ones in Moscow.
Sheesh, I could go on and rave about the “superiority” of Finland over Russia (well, if Moscow is this “shi&*y” I can’t even imagine how other cities are and I’ve seen a lot of Russian cities) and just as I expect (assuming someone ever get to read this piece) a torrent of hot responses from mostly Russians with their standard line “get the !@$%^ out if you don’t like our country” and guess what, I might do just that!

I was born in russia and thanks god i left 14 years ago and now live in civilized country with good morals and strong laws. russia is good for russians who only like them self’s. the country is a big mess, most people are rude, aggressive, unhappy, have dirty mouth. I also lived in western Europe and russia have lots of work to do and time before it becomes something.

It does amaze me how people like you could be so ungrateful, bashing and rubbishing the country which I presume gave you an opportunity to get educated for a fraction of UK or USA tuition fee, residence permit, freedom of movement, work permit.

Sorry, there are no fake silly smiles in Russia. It is in USA or Finland you will get plenty of fake smiles.
Mind you, sooner or later people will realize that you hate both them and Russia and that could be worst case scenario for you.

Go to Finland…..and ask for residence permit or UK for example and you will be deported mate in a matter of days and black listed for entrance to Europe for the rest of your life.

Go to the US, British or Canadian embassies and you will see Russians in drove wishing to leave the country forever. You are either not in the know or simply living in denial. Either way that doesn’t change any of the facts highlighted in the post. A Russian friend told me that mass emigration is destroying Russia. True or false?

иду по улице смотрю мужчина лет 50 пропускает вперед себя в магазин нигера.(у нас в городе их обезьян 10 от силы студентов)

В 20 метрах стоит мусоропровод, но нет, это для белых парней, наши дети природы себя этим не утруждали, они оставляли мешки с мусором прямо на пороге дома. Когда я им сделал замечание, они ответили, что это свободная страна. О как! Свободные негры в свободной стране. Странный запах у их свободы.
Дык ссать и мусор выкидывать прямо под двери негров.

If only you’d take a look at the title of the post “Russia is not Europe” you would have noticed that it’s a comparison between Russia and other European countries (Finland in this case – and not a comparison between Asian or African or LA countries –and nothing personal about it) but hello, reading or understanding is not a trait of yours. Но разве в тех странах, откуда едут темнокожие студенты по-другому? Да там точно такая же неадекватная реакция, но на белых! Я изучила информацию по многим странам, и везде, где мало белых, на них реагируют точно также! И расизм среди взрослых тоже есть. Да, чрезчур агрессивных расистов можно найти всего в нескольких странах Африки. Но в остальных над людьми все равно издеваются! Белым на рынке умышленно называют цены на товары выше, чем обычным людям. Во многих странах белого пытаются развести на деньги, считают лохом только потому, что он белый! В ДРК белым даже предлагают особую стоимость аренды! Вообще, типичный негр вместо того, чтобы принять белого как своего, вспоминает кучу нереальных, бредовых стереотипов.
В ряде стран на русских жен африканцев наезжают местные люди, и именно за то, что они русские, а не свои! Суды и полиция зачастую относятся к иностранцам хуже, чем к местным. Из всех коррупционеров как минимум каждый второй будет требовать от белого взятку больше, чем от черного!
А в нескольких странах пошли еще дальше. В Либерии, Зимбабве и Сьерра-Леоне до сих пор действуют расистские законы!
Я не пытаюсь оправдать российских националистов или преступников. Я ПРОСТО НЕ МОГУ ПОНЯТЬ, почему многие африканцы решили, что в белом государстве к черным все обязаны относиться лучше, чем черные относятся к белым у себя?
This article is generating a lot of comments and that was precisely what I had in mind but, it does feel like very few people understood the article itself or maybe I wasn’t just articulate enough?
The question is not about kids just pointing at Africans but rather the negative thinking of the kid and his parents and also their talks.
I (and most people) do know for sure that an average African kid was brought up to think that the ‘white man’ rules. I do know that ‘whites’ are treated like ‘gods’ in Africa so this is different and I don’t want to go deep into that now.
This article was/is not about who is bad or who is good, but rather, a game of comparison between European countries – Russia and Finland in this case – and since Russia calls itself a giant, I highlighted very simple reasons why I felt the country (Russia) still has a VERY LONG WAY to go (Malena – A Russian agreed with me on this).
This article is not about what is obtainable in Sierra Leone, Brazil or China – but what is happening here in Russia AND EUROPE!
What I think most people on here forget is that there are Africans in Russia and some are here to stay for good and can if adequately integrated into the society (as practiced in some European countries) can also be beneficial and contribute towards the growth of the country. THIS (among other things) WAS THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE ARTICLE!
Some people got personal but I will refrain from personal attacks this time and try to keep the discussion civil.
